COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)/PREVENTION SPECIALIST IN TRAINING (PSIT)The CIT and PSIT designation is provided for individuals during the period in which they are obtaining the education, training, and experience required to apply for certification. An individual may be registered as a CIT/PSIT for a period of no longer than 6 years. CIT's/PSIT's must be under the supervision of a qualified professional: · A LAC, CCGC, or CCPS who has been certified and has worked in a licensed or ADRA approved treatment program in his/her area of certification for a minimum of two years. · A credentialed professional such as a board certified social worker, licensed psychologist, or licensed physician. · A Certified Counselor Supervisor (CCS) who has made application to the ADRA for and met the requirements for this designation CIT’s/PSIT's will receive notification of current approved AEPs, ATIs, and AIHEs; and of any changes in law, rules, or policies and procedures which may affect them. Any person providing substance abuse counseling or prevention intervention services must be certified by the ADRA or under qualified supervision. Individuals who do not register with the ADRA as a CIT/PSIT will be required to provide proof of appropriate supervision. This proof will be required at the time of application for certification, in response to any complaint, and in response to any challenge.
