APPROVED EDUCATIONAL PROVIDERS - updated 10/7/08

In the process of preparing for certification, applicants are required to satisfy specific education and experience requirements.  Counselors who have achieved certification are required to complete forty-eight (48) hours of continuing education during the two (2) years prior to renewal of certification.  In order to assure that substance abuse counselors, both current and potential, receive quality professional education, the LSBCSAC operates a program to register qualifying organizations as Approved Educational Providers (AEP). Counselors and applicants will be required to document proof of meeting the standards required by the Board for any continuing education hours claimed from an organization which is not registered as an AEP.
