CCGC
REQUIREMENTS
The ADRA shall issue a
certificate as a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor (CCGC) to each
candidate who:
1. Is at least 21
years of age.
2. Is a legal resident
of the United States.
3. Is not in violation
of any ethical standards subscribed to by the Board.
4. Has not been
convicted of a felony. However, the Board in its discretion may waive this
requirement upon review of the individual’s circumstances.
5. Possesses and
maintains a Licensed Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor or
Registered Addiction Counselor or other approved license to practice
independently. Any license or certification not issued by the ADRA must be
approved by the ADRA.
6. Successfully
completes thirty (30) clock hours of gambling addiction courses from an ADRA
approved education program. If not credentialed by the ADRA there must be
documented an additional sixty (60) hours in specific addiction treatment
education.
7. Demonstrates
professional competency by passing a written and oral examination prescribed
by the ADRA.
Credit received for
practicum, internship, or other experiential education may be claimed for
education or experience, but not both.
REQUIREMENTS FOR RECERTIFICATION
During the two years
prior to renewal of certification counselors shall:
Provide proof of current
license, certification or registry to practice. Each candidate must complete
forty-eight (48) continuing education hours from an AEP. Six (6) must be
in ethics and eight (8) specific to counseling compulsive gamblers. Any hours
not provided by an AEP must be approved and accepted by the ADRA.
