Testing Fee Letter (3/29/2010): Since
2004 our testing for ADRA credentials has been paid through a contract between
OAD and LASACT. Due to budget cuts LASACT has been notified that effective
April 30, 2010 this contract will be eliminated. Previously applicants were
only requred to pay the application fee of $100.00 to ADRA. |
Effective
immediately appliants will also be responsible for the testing fee of
$275.00 payable to LASACT CEB in advance of the exam. LASACT tests
quarterly, March, June, September and December. Payment must be made to
LASACT at the first of the month preceding the exam. (February 1, May 1,
August 1, and November 1) in order for an exam to be ordered. Upon successful
completion of an exam you will return your pass fail grade to us for
completion of the application process.

ADRA fee schedule is
effective as of April 20, 2007. All Practice Credentials, Speciality
Certifications or CIT/PSIT status must include applicable fee payment. PAYMENT
MUST BE IN THE FORM OF MONEY ORDER OR CERTIFIED CHECK PAYABLE TO THE ADRA. |

Act 803 signed into law |
Act 803 was
signed by the Governor on July 8, 2004. This act provides for categories of
addictive disorder professionals, definitions, powers and duties of the
Department of Health and Hospitals, Office for Addictive Disorders, provides
for licensure, certification and registration of addictive disorder counselors
and professionals among other things. You may review Act 803
here.

TO ALL AEP PROVIDERS: When issuing certificates, the provider
is to write/type the name of the individual receiving the certificate.
Do not give a certificate to an individual for that
person to write/type his own name.

Best Practice Advisory -
Housing Clients |
In
the history of recovery it is clear that the practice of Bill Wilson and
others was to house and feed those with whom they were working. It is
important, however, to distinguish between 12 step work and clinical
treatment. The ADRA Board urges counselors to guard against eroding the
clinical relationship. It is suggested that by housing clients in one’s home
a counselor runs the risk of undermining their effectiveness as a counselor
and may sabotage the client’s treatment.
